Behaviors & Mindsets
March 29, 2020What have we learned about ourselves during the community lockdown? Did we develop new habit patterns that are helpful to us and others or have we chosen to act and behave in an unfavorable way? Now that we have more time in our hands, what have we chosen to do with it?
All human beings are prone to habit patterns. This predisposition imprints into our memory and framework systems (the hippocampus and neocortex) and they become basis for future envisioning and behavior. Research has shown that these new images can override past images.
What has worked for you in the time of Covid-19? Was it exercising, getting longer sleep, joining video calls with family and friends, baking, getting into gardening, doing home projects, volunteering?
I invite you to make a mindful shift and continue the actions and behaviors that provide you with constructive thoughts and feelings. Help your mindset with supportive action.
Some tips:
• List down these activities and plot them down in a simple schedule that you can follow on a daily basis. Go for quality over efficiency. You will get better at the routine as the days go by.
• Define your milestones to days rather than weeks.
• And finally, be kind to yourself whenever you fall into less productive behaviors and thinking.
